Establish ecological limits, a question about scale
They saw it coming, the brilliant minds at MIT who in the early 1970s wrote the report Limits to Growth. They saw what is now upon us. The limits, the scarcity.
We have gone from an empty to a full world and in many areas exceeded the limits that would safeguard us. To have a chance we should start creating institutions or assigning current to try to figure out much of our common resources we have left and establish limits to stop profligate extraction of the resources we all need for a flourishing future for all.
Adhering to the principle of subsidiarity, establishing limits is a local and global task and looking at the trajectories of the curves, with the steep downhills, in Limits of Growth, protecting our well-being now and saving it for our futures shows that we should start now!
